"Being part of Channel O is an incredible platform to reach more
people while representing my country and also sharing my love for music
with Africa,"- she says.

Being
a channel O VJ is not just about looking good and being a good
presenter, according to Capital FM presenter Joey Muthengi, who is one
of the new kids on the block at Channel O Africa.
Joey, who has been tasked with making the Channel O music awards on
11.11.11 more relevant to the Kenyan audience says the team of six VJs
chosen from across Africa had to work super hard to learn how to
conduct interviews on the red carpet - professionally.
Joey, will be under Channel O's Original African theme, with
Edun‘Denrele'Olufemi (Nigeria), Flavia Tumusiime (Uganda), Jokate
Mwegelo (Tanzania), Stefen 'J.Town'Menson (Ghana) and Maya Wegerif,
from South Africa.
Apart
from the upcoming awards this new set of VJs will be making the
celebrity, music, and culture scenes more relevant and swanky to appeal
to a wider audience, according to Channel O.
'The VJs will be going behind-the-scenes and giving viewers a wider
picture of what goes on in the music and entertainment world that is
rapidly growing in Africa as well as internationally,' they said in a
statement.
Channel O Africa Manager, Leslie Kasumba said: "Each one of these VJs
is awesome in their own right. Not only do they have a fundamental love
for their country and music from their countries too, they also have a
love for what is happening around them and can see African Urban music
in the global space which is exactly what Channel O Africa is about."
Joey has described her new team as cool and instrumental in changing
the entertainment space across Africa.
Joey, who hosts the popular show Hits Not Homework, will head to the
Channel O awards a few days earlier to be part of preparations for the
massive show that has been put together.
On Monday, Dineo and musician Banky W were announced as the hosts for
this year.
Kenyans who've been nominated include STL, Wyre, Jaguar, Collo and
P-Unit. Hopefully their chances will not be very badly affected by the
well-known voter apathy in Kenya.
The awards will be staged at the Sandton Convention Centre.
